2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class Spied Again

This isn’t the primary time we’ve seen a higher-generation Mercedes-Benz S-Class out and about. As is usually the case with the S-Class, the styling changes are evolutionary, not revolutionary. The most important break we will remember within the stylistic succession of the Mercedes S-Class was between the tank-like W140 model of the 1990s and the considerably sleeker W220. The 2014 model S-Class shall be immediately recognizable because the biggest Mercedes sedan.

The front grille and taillights are subtly changed from the present W221 model, however the overall shape and dimensions appear to be they’ll be concerning the same. Aside from the rumored Pullman variant, replace the Maybach because the flagship of the Daimler line.

As seen in previous spy photos, the brand new Mercedes S-class gets a distinct two-spoke steering wheel, a large center display, a revised COMAND controller knob, and more formal-looking controls and switchgear, including chrome-trimmed HVAC vents.

Most of the present powertrains are expected to hold over, including the commonly-utilized Mercedes 4.7-liter twin-turbocharged V-8 inside the S550 model, in addition to the V-6 S400 Hybrid, S350 Bluetec diesel, in addition to the head-line V-12 models, the S600 and S65 AMG. The two.1-liter four-cylinder diesel is being more widely-used in Mercedes’ U.S. lineup, and is currently offered within the Euro-spec S-class, but it’s unlikely the diesel four-pot would be offered inside the U.S. market.
