Chrysler Reveals Revised 5-Year Product Plan, 2012 Full-Year Profit of $1.7 Billion

Chrysler has revealed its revised November 2009 North American five-year product plan and extended it to incorporate the 2016 calendar year. While the automaker has dropped plans to feature two Fiat-produced models each to the Chrysler and Dodge brands this year, Fiat will add eight new models and Alfa Romeo will finally return to the U.S. market with six new models by 2016.

Here are Chrysler’s revised product plans for every of its North American brands:

Chrysler: Previous plans so as to add three Fiat-built models – one in 2012 and two in 2013 – to Chrysler’s stable were dropped, and  a new Chrysler-produced vehicle have been pushed back a year to 2014. One existing model, likely the 200 sedan, will now be refreshed in 2014. Three new Chrysler-developed models will arrive in 2015. In keeping with Chrysler’s new product outline, a type of models was originally scheduled to reach in 2014.

Dodge: While the Fiat-produced 2013 Dodge Dart was introduced last year, two Fiat-produced cars scheduled to reach this year were dropped. Refreshes of 3 existing models were added to the plan, with one refresh due this year and any other two next year. Initial plans to refresh an existing model in 2015 in addition to add two new Chrysler-produced vehicles, in 2015 and 2016, are unchanged.

Jeep: The 2014 Compass and 2014 Grand Cherokee refreshes and an all-new 2014 Liberty arrive this year, 365 days behind the unique plan. A Fiat-based small Jeep, delayed twelve months, arrives in 2014. Jeep will introduce two new products in 2015, including one model originally due in 2013, that may be the long-rumored seven-passenger Grand Wagoneer. Expect to peer two new and one refreshed Jeep in 2016.

Ram: The 2013 Ram 1500 was introduced last year, and the Ram Heavy Duty and Chassis cabs will follow this year together with another new model. All four vehicles were delayed three hundred and sixty five days. A Fiat-based Ram have been pushed back two years to 2014. That new model is probably going a rebadged Fiat Doblo commercial van. An existing model would be refreshed in 2015, while two new models will arrive in 2016, one in all which was pushed back three years.

SRT: The 2013 Viper released last year gets a refresh in 2015, while the refreshed 2014 Grand Cherokee SRT8 arrives this year. SRT will refresh three existing models in 2014, likely the Challenger, Charger, and 300. An all-new SRT model will arrive in 2016, possibly the approaching sub-Challenger Barracuda.

Alfa Romeo: Alfa Romeo’s U.S. reintroduction may well be long overdue, however the brand currently sells cars in neighboring Mexico, and plans to introduce a brand new model this year (likely the 4C sports coupe). Two more models will arrive in 2015, bringing the full to four planned that year, while plans to introduce another model in 2016 remain. All Alfa Romeo models could be Fiat-built.

Fiat: The 500L arrives this year, while Fiat will add six new models in 2015 – four of that are new to the plan. Plans to introduce another model in 2016 remain. All the new models could be built by Fiat.

Chrysler revealed today that it recorded net income of $378 million within the fourth quarter of 2012. That’s up from $225 million within the fourth quarter of 2011. Therefore, Chrysler’s full-year net income rose to $1.7 billion — up from $183 million in 2011. The Motor City automaker produced 2.4 million vehicles this year and sold 2.2 million.
