Next-Gen Toyota GT86 GT4 Racer Revealed
There’s a brand new Toyota racecar on the town: British racing house GPRM just pulled the wraps off this blue and white fighter, the GT86 GT4. While it may possibly not have the classic paint scheme of last year’s GT86 GT4, let’s hope it upholds the old car’s reputation for achievement.
Exactly how a lot more horsepower is unclear at this point. The two.0-liter, direct-injected boxer four-cylinder from the stock Toyota GT86 (referred to as the Scion FR-S) received an intensive once-over by the engineers at England’s Nicholson McLaren Engines. Nicholson McLaren added a turbocharger-a huge one-that ups the flexibility from its current, adequate 200 hp to an imposing 360-400. Nicholson McLaren says that it’ll choose a last figure after further endurance testing.
Endurance is, obviously, a huge question with the GT86 GT4, as a result of its history. The automobile, that’s assembled by British racing house GPRM, waded into battle last year with a classic paintjob and walked away with some impressive achievements — eighth overall and third within the GT4 class. GPRM says that the brand new GT86 GT4 reflects the teachings it learned campaigning last year’s car, and that it’s currently in talks with a racing team hoping to go into the automobile into the Avon Tyres British GT Championship.
We hope the brand new GT4 brings home some awards, as the benchmark was set pretty high with the GT86. Last year, two GT86s took home first-place trophies of their respective classes of the ADAC 24 Hours of Nurburgring, and Gazoo Racing (which won a type of trophies) announced it’s hoping to head for gold again this year.
