Listening to feedback from potential customers and critics is significant when launching a brand new car, and Ford is taking to heart the feedback it’s received for the 2013 Ford Fusion. To share a number of the comments the brand new Fusion has inspired, Ford is incorporating them into its new ad campaign in a completely unique way: hiring versatile musical artist Reggie Watts to show them into songs.
The campaign, called “Fusion Remix,” has Watts pulling comments from various sources – including Automobile editor-in-chief Jean Jennings – and composing an impromptu song around them. As well as being a reliable singer, Watts is an adept beat-boxer who can record and play back his beats live. The songs blend musical genres, with the artist switching styles (sometimes mid-song) from hip-hop to classic rock to cheesy lounge singer to Latin jazz. The comments incorporated into the songs cover quite a lot of Fusion-related topics, including the midsize sedan’s affordability, futuristic looks, and shortage of a V-6 option.
Watch the videos below to look each of the remixed comments at the 2013 Ford Fusion, together with Watts’ so-bad-it’s-good sweater.
