SRT Viper Returns to 24 Hours of Le Mans

After three successful racing seasons from 1998 to 2000 wherein it finished first and second, the Viper (don’t call it a Dodge) is making its return to the 24 Hours of Le Mans endurance race for 2013. SRT division representatives, including Beth Paretta, the director of selling and operations for SRT, such as SRT Motorsports driver Marc Goossens were readily available in Paris, France, to formally accept the invitation from the ACO, the formal sanctioning body behind the 24 Hours of Le Mans, to field two Viper GTS-Rs within the LM GTE Pro class for the 2013 race, so that it will happen on June 22-23.

The new Viper GTS-R is already running an entire 2013 racing schedule within the American Le Mans Series within the GT class. Helping with the design and building of the race cars is Riley Technologies based in Mooresville, North Carolina. SRT drivers for 2013 stands out as the aforementioned Marc Goossens, Tommy Kendall, Kuno Wittmer, Dominik Farnbacher, and Jonathan Bomarito.

The original 1996 Viper GTS-R won five international GT championships, the 1997, 1998 and 1999 FIA GT championships, and an overall win on the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona, as well as the 3 Le Mans endurance race wins.
