Thread of the Day: Acura, Lexus, or Infiniti – Which Brand has the correct Grille Design
Designing cars is a tough business, as automakers often walk the road between conservative and extroverted styling. From time to time, though, a manufacturer will take a risk with a brand new, unique styling element. Sometimes that risk pays off, while other times it’s met with criticism and controversy. Particularly, Lexus and Infiniti have adopted unorthodox grille shapes, resulting in this Thread of the Day question inspired by forum user Brap Man: Which automaker has the perfect grille design – Acura, Infiniti, or Lexus
Since its introduction, the Acura “beak” grille has polarized fans of the logo. While Acura has kept the grille, it’s been toned down on new cars just like the ILX and RLX. Similarly polarizing is Lexus’ spindle grille as seen at the 2014 IS, which, along side the 2014 Q50’s new grille, our own Frank Markus called out as worst in show for this year’s Detroit auto show.
